Midlakes High School has announced Matthew Cannan as valedictorian and Jackson Alamond as salutatorian for the Class of 2025, recognizing two students for their outstanding academic achievements.
The Phelps Clifton Springs School District extended its congratulations to both students for their accomplishments and dedication throughout their high school careers.
Matthew Cannan, son of Scott and Melissa Cannan, plans to attend SUNY Oswego to pursue adolescent education with a focus in history. His goal is to become a high school history teacher. Cannan has excelled in both academics and extracurriculars, serving as captain of the Masterminds team, president of the French Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. A talented musician, he has been selected for All-State and All County band several times. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2023.
Jackson Alamond, son of David Alamond and Melissa Murphy, will attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study civil and environmental engineering. Though he didn’t participate in many school clubs or sports, Alamond focused on his academic work and engaged in volunteer activities. He spends much of his time outside school pursuing personal hobbies.
