A 74-year-old Phelps woman was injured after her riding lawn mower entered traffic and was struck by a passing vehicle.
The crash happened on May 10 around 2:51 p.m. in front of 20 State Route 96 in the Town of Phelps, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Lynn J. Bogart was mowing her lawn when she accidentally drove over the curb into the westbound lane. Robert W. Fischer, 86, of Lyons, was traveling west in a 2022 Ford Escape and struck her.
Phelps Fire temporarily shut down a section of Route 96 between Lester Road and Pearl Street during the response. Finger Lakes Ambulance treated Bogart at the scene and transported her to FF Thompson Hospital with minor injuries.
Following the investigation, Bogart was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way. She is scheduled to appear in Phelps Town Court.
