More measles cases in New York reported

Three young children in Orange County have tested positive for measles, bringing New York’s total to eight cases amid a growing national outbreak, according to state health officials. All three children had recently traveled abroad and two were too young to be vaccinated.

These are the first confirmed cases in the Hudson Valley during the 2025 outbreak, reviving fears from the region’s major 2018–2019 epidemic. Health leaders stress early MMR vaccination for children traveling internationally and urge full immunization for all eligible residents.

The U.S. has now surpassed 1,000 measles cases in 2025, with hotspots in Texas and New Mexico. Officials warn that this year could exceed the record set in 2019, and travelers are advised to check vaccination status before leaving the country.
