May’s full moon — known as the flower moon — will peak on May 12, 2025, aligning perfectly with Mother’s Day weekend, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Visible from May 11 to May 13, the moon symbolizes spring’s bloom and planting season across North America.
This year’s flower moon is also a micromoon, appearing smaller and dimmer than usual due to its distance from Earth. Moon watchers are advised to find clear horizon views for the best glimpse of this seasonal spectacle.
Other key lunar dates in May include the first quarter on May 4, last quarter on May 20, and a new moon on May 27. Next month’s full moon, the strawberry moon, rises June 11.
