A felony DWI arrest and a weapons-related menacing charge highlight a series of incidents reported in Geneva over the last week.
Geneva police arrested eight individuals during the week, with charges ranging from petit larceny and criminal mischief to failure to appear in court. Several traffic violations, including operating with a suspended license, also led to arrests.
On May 5, officers arrested 23-year-old Vincent D. Hughes on Pulteney Street. Police charged Hughes with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. Officers determined he had used a knife to place another person in “reasonable fear of serious physical injury.”
Two days later, officers stopped a vehicle on Genesee Street for failing to stop at a flashing red signal. The driver, 30-year-old Kierra K. Parker of Lyons, was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated. Police said the charge was elevated to a felony due to a prior DWI conviction within the past ten years.
On May 4, police arrested 35-year-old Cheagan J. Wilson on Lewis Street. Officers said Wilson had stolen merchandise from Byrne Dairy and was later found driving an uninspected vehicle with a suspended non-driver’s license. He faces charges including petit larceny, aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, and unlicensed operation.
Another motorist, 60-year-old Christopher W. Lemelin, was stopped on May 7 after allegedly failing to stop at a sign on Washington Street. Police said Lemelin’s driver’s license was suspended, leading to charges of aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree.
On May 6, officers arrested 48-year-old Johnny H. Candelario on Exchange Street. They said he was operating a vehicle with a suspended license and charged him with aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree.
The same day, police executed an arrest warrant on Route 14N for 24-year-old Tatiana A. Campbell of Rochester. Officers said the warrant stemmed from a 2020 case involving damage to another person’s property, resulting in a charge of criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
On May 7, police stopped a vehicle on North Street for inadequate plate lighting. Officers arrested 31-year-old Ariel M. Jimenez of Waterloo after determining he was intoxicated. His blood alcohol content registered at .08%, according to the report.
Finally, police arrested 32-year-old Ryan M. Schlenker on Exchange Street on May 8. Schlenker was taken into custody on a bench warrant after failing to appear in Geneva City Court.
All arrests were made by Geneva Police Department officers as part of regular enforcement activity.
