The Finger Lakes Chorale will bring its community spirit to Canandaigua and Geneva with two free concerts in mid-May.
Titled “From the Library of Ella Cripps,” the performances will feature selections preserved by the late music director of the Geneva First United Methodist Church.
The first concert will take place Friday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. The second will follow on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at the Geneva First United Methodist Church, 340 S. Main St.
The program includes songs from “Poet’s Love” by Robert Schumann, “I Love You” by Edward Grieg, “Stardust” by Hoagie Carmichael, “Smile” by Charlie Chaplin, “Sixteen Tons,” “Exodus Song,” “The Impossible Dream” from “Man of La Mancha,” and “I Love Her” by the Beatles.
Admission is free, though donations will be accepted to support scholarships for music and music recording majors at Finger Lakes Community College. The chorale, directed by Ines Draskovic, welcomes new members at the start of each semester. Residents can sign up for reminders and events by emailing [email protected].
