The Watkins Glen School District’s proposed $31.4 million budget was reviewed at Tuesday’s board meeting, according to district officials. Superintendent Kai D’Alleva and Assistant Superintendent Kyle Percey outlined the 4.12% spending increase and a slight rise in the property tax rate to $8.76 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Few residents attended the hearing, with only one asking questions. Voters will decide on the budget and elect three school board members from four candidates — Astra Titus, Jessica Austic, Chad Hendrickson, and incumbent Keith Caslin — during the May 20 election.
The top two winners will serve three-year terms, while the third-place finisher will fill a one-year term, replacing outgoing board member Craig Bianco.
