A Penn Yan woman was taken into custody Saturday night after a reported fight led to robbery charges.
Police said Michelle L. Downs, 50, of Main Street, was arrested around 8:54 p.m. after allegedly shoving another village resident to the ground and forcibly stealing property.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, officers responded to a call about a fight in progress. After investigating, they charged Downs with robbery in the third degree and harassment in the second degree.
Authorities said Downs was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment. Police noted that an order of protection would be pursued as part of the arraignment process.
