More than 150 people gathered at the New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center in Auburn to protest threats to democracy under the Trump administration.
Organized by Indivisible Cayuga, the rally was part of a national May Day effort to support worker rights and civil freedoms.
Demonstrators voiced concerns over cuts to programs like Medicaid, NPR, and Head Start, as well as attacks on unions and marginalized communities.
Some motorists cheered the crowd, while others hurled insults as tensions flared on both sides of the street.
Organizers pledged continued resistance, vowing to defend democratic principles and protect vital public services in Cayuga County and beyond.
