  • Staff Report

Daniel DeWolf, a Wayne County firefighter who died of a heart attack at a fire scene in January 2024, will be among those honored at the 44th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial this weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland, according to event organizers. He was 52 years old.

DeWolf will be remembered alongside 139 others who died in the line of duty. Public ceremonies include a candlelight service on May 3 and a memorial service on May 4, with tributes celebrating their bravery and sacrifice.

Organizers emphasized the importance of honoring fallen firefighters and supporting the families and departments they leave behind.
