Authorities in Cayuga County announced a new initiative to crack down on welfare fraud through coordinated agency efforts.
District Attorney Brittany Antonacci, Commissioner of Social Services Christine Bianco, and Sheriff Brian Schenck recently formed a partnership to aggressively identify, investigate, sanction, arrest, and prosecute individuals who fraudulently receive public benefits. This effort has already led to three recent arrests, highlighting the financial impact welfare fraud has on taxpayers.
Officials stated that their agencies will continue proactive efforts to hold offenders accountable.
