Aurora stock up today after launching driverless semi-trucks in Texas

Aurora Innovation Inc. (NASDAQ: AUR) has made history by becoming the first company to deploy fully autonomous Class 8 semi-trucks on public roads in the United States.

The company’s self-driving freight service, known as Aurora Horizon, is now operational in Texas, conducting regular driverless deliveries between Dallas and Houston.

This milestone follows the successful completion of Aurora’s comprehensive safety evaluation, which demonstrated the readiness of its SAE Level 4 Aurora Driver system for commercial use.

To date, the Aurora Driver has completed over 1,200 miles without a human driver present.

Aurora plans to expand its driverless operations to El Paso, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona, by the end of 2025.

As of May 2, 2025 at 10:25 a.m. ET, Aurora Innovation’s stock (NASDAQ: AUR) is trading at $7.67, reflecting a 11.48% increase from the previous close.

The stock has a 52-week range of $2.10 to $10.77 and a market capitalization of approximately $9.29 billion.

Analysts have set a consensus one-year price target of $9.63 for AUR, with forecasts ranging from $6.00 to $15.00.

Recent analyst actions include Needham initiating coverage with a “Buy” rating and a $10.00 price target, and Goldman Sachs upgrading the stock from “Sell” to “Neutral.

Aurora’s achievement in deploying driverless trucks on public roads marks a significant advancement in the autonomous vehicle industry, positioning the company as a leader in commercial self-driving technology.
