Upcoming meetings of the Newark Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals will both consider a request to convert a commercial property on West Union Street into a single-family home, a use not currently allowed in its zoning district.
The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet May 12 at 6:30 p.m., while the Planning Board will convene May 5 at the same time. Both meetings will be held in the Village Court Room on the second floor of the Newark Municipal Building.
At the center of both agendas is Project #A25-0003, submitted by Tracy L. Zornow. The request seeks a use variance under Chapter 170, Article IV, §170-8 of the zoning code. The proposal would allow Zornow to convert a building currently designated for business use at 506 West Union Street into a single-family residence. The site falls within the Highway Business District B-3, where single-family homes are not permitted.
In addition to the project review, both boards will vote on whether to cancel or postpone their August 4 meetings due to the expected absence of the Code Clerk.
