Aurora’s village board approved its 2025-26 budget Tuesday but delayed a decision on rising water rates tied to a major utility shift, officials said.
The $619,423 budget is down over 20% from last year, with cuts to library and community services. Initially removed, staff raises were reinstated after a board amendment. Treasurer Christine Tanner was also made full-time to receive benefits.
The village took control of the Wells College water plant, leading to a sharp increase in the water fund—from $118,100 to $327,600. A special meeting on rate hikes is expected before May 21.
