Tractor-trailers weighing more than five tons will soon be banned from 27 roads in Skaneateles, according to The Citizen. The town board passed the new law on April 7 to address safety issues and costly road damage caused by heavy truck traffic.
Supervisor Chris Legg said community support has been strong, noting recent accidents and rising repair costs as key reasons for the move. Existing bans on five roads to protect the Skaneateles Lake watershed will remain in place alongside the new restrictions.
Trucks making deliveries or working in agriculture are exempt, but violators face fines up to $250 and license penalties.
