Healthcare workers at Guthrie Corning Hospital have voted to hold an informational picket if no labor deal is reached before their contract expires April 30, according to WETM. Represented by 1199SEIU, over 450 union members are demanding better staffing, fair wages, and affordable healthcare.
Contract talks began in mid-March and continued this week, but workers say management’s proposals fall short, especially on health insurance costs. Union leaders argue high deductibles would burden frontline staff who face daily risks.
The union says it will issue a 10-day notice before picketing. Employees may participate during breaks or off-hours to voice concerns over pay and working conditions.
