Three international students at Syracuse University abruptly lost their visas under a Trump administration policy shift, according to reporting by Syracuse.com. The university received no prior notice and still hasn’t been told why the students were targeted.
The affected students are among over 1,700 nationwide whose legal status was revoked in recent weeks. SU says two will still graduate on time, while staff are helping the third remain enrolled. University leaders are working with elected officials, though they haven’t confirmed contact with the State Department.
Upstate New York institutions have also been hit, including Cornell, UB, and RPI. The visa crackdown has sparked legal challenges, with critics calling the actions vague and unjustified.
