The Seneca County Water-Sewer Authority Board of Directors will meet on Thursday, April 24, to discuss legal compliance priorities and receive updates on ongoing organizational development.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room at the County Office Building.

According to the agenda, attorney Michael Howard will deliver a presentation on compliance matters. Howard specializes in New York Public Authorities Law and will outline actions the board must undertake over the coming months to meet regulatory standards.

Executive Director Dan Schmalzel is also slated to provide an update on Authority operations. Schmalzel was appointed interim director during the Board’s inaugural meeting in March. At that time, the Board voted unanimously to appoint Schmalzel for an indefinite term at no additional compensation, while he continues to serve in his existing role as the County’s Director of Water and Sewer Operations.

Board members will also review and consider approval of the minutes from the March 27 meeting, during which officers were elected and foundational presentations were given by MRB Group consultants. At that session, Robert Carroll was named Chairman, with Paul Dyson, Pat Keefe, and Faith Smith appointed as Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary, respectively.

Thursday’s meeting will conclude with a discussion of upcoming action items, led by Matt Horn of the MRB Group. Horn will preview tasks to be completed before the Board reconvenes on May 22.
