A Newark man is facing multiple felony charges after a domestic incident involving a machete led to his arrest in Arcadia, New York.
Jared C. Nesmith, 35, was taken into custody on April 22 by New York State Police from SP Lyons. The arrest followed a report that Nesmith unlawfully entered a residence in the town of Arcadia around 2:00 a.m. on April 21. Authorities said he was armed with a machete and made verbal threats toward the victim.
Troopers located Nesmith at his home and arrested him without incident. He was processed at SP Lyons and brought to Wayne County CAP court.
Nesmith was charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony; second-degree menacing, a class A misdemeanor; and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony. Due to prior felony convictions, he was remanded without bail following arraignment.
