Union Springs man charged with falsely reporting crime to police

  • Staff Report

A Union Springs man has been charged after allegedly making a false report to law enforcement earlier this year.

Michael D. Flint, 24, was arrested by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on April 15 and charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.

According to the sheriff’s office, the charge stems from a February incident in which Flint reported an alleged crime that was later determined to have never occurred. Authorities did not disclose details about the nature of the false report.

Flint was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Springport Town Court on April 30.

Anyone with further information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip through the SaferWatch app.
