Schumer Says Micron Chip Plant Still on Track

Senator Chuck Schumer confirmed that Micron’s massive semiconductor project in Clay, New York remains on schedule, despite recent political tensions over CHIPS Act funding. Groundbreaking is expected by November, he recently told CNY Central.

Concerns arose after President Trump vowed to eliminate the CHIPS Act, which helped secure the deal. Schumer acknowledged he hasn’t reviewed Micron’s environmental impact documents but said company officials remain confident in the timeline.

Schumer also highlighted growing interest from other businesses eager to locate near the future plant, calling it a major driver of economic growth for the region and potentially the world’s largest memory chip facility.
