Police in Penn Yan have arrested a local man following a domestic incident that led to multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
Ryan G. Thomas, 27, of Chestnut Street, was taken into custody on April 14 around 8:22 p.m. after officers responded to a complaint involving a physical altercation.
According to police, Thomas allegedly slammed the victim to the ground during the dispute, causing injuries to the victim’s head and arm. Investigators say the victim had an active stay-away order of protection against Thomas at the time. He is also accused of obstructing the victim’s breathing during the altercation.
Thomas was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, both felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.
He was processed by the Penn Yan Police Department and transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment.
