Cayuga County will pay $75,000 annually to lease office space at Cayuga Community College, according to reporting this weekend by The Citizen.
The move replaces the far costlier $900,000 setup at 63 Genesee St. and comes as several county departments are relocated due to asbestos concerns at the county office building.
The new location, previously home to the college’s employment center, will house the clerk’s office, human resources, IT, and planning.
Environmental testing cleared the former office space of pollutants, prompting a fast-tracked relocation of documents and DMV equipment. The clerk’s office will begin public operations at CCC on June 2.
