Seneca County Sheriff Urges Public to Support Sheriffs’ Institute Fundraising Drive

Sheriff Tim Thompson is calling on residents to support the New York State Sheriffs’ Institute (NYSSI) as it launches its annual fundraising campaign to benefit local youth and future law enforcement professionals.

The campaign helps fund vital training programs for deputies, scholarships for aspiring criminal justice students, and the Sheriffs’ Summer Camp for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Join us in making a difference,” Sheriff Thompson urged, encouraging the public to watch for the official donation letter from NYSSI in their mailboxes.

The Sheriffs’ Summer Camp, one of the Institute’s hallmark programs, provides hundreds of children across New York State with a week of outdoor recreation, character-building activities, and mentorship — all at no cost to their families. In Seneca County, the initiative opens doors for local youth who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a summer camp.

Contributions to NYSSI also support continued education for law enforcement and academic scholarships to help students pursue careers in criminal justice.
