REPORT: Cayuga County Nears $1.5M Spend on Office Move

Cayuga County has spent nearly $890,000 of a $2 million budget to prepare 63 Genesee St. in Auburn for staff relocation, according to reporting by The Citizen. The site will house the Department of Social Services and other offices displaced by the closure of the county office building due to asbestos concerns.

Total costs are expected to approach $1.5 million, covering rent, equipment, and furnishings. The county began paying full rent in March, with the current monthly rate set at $29,005. The Department of Social Services is expected to move in by May 1.

The lease runs for two years, with a five-year renewal option.
