Perkins allegedly ingested a controlled substance in an attempt to prevent deputies from discovering it. Emergency medical personnel from Wayne County EMS were called to assess his condition at the scene.

He was charged with tampering with physical evidence and failure to maintain his lane. Deputies issued him appearance tickets to respond to the charges in Huron Town Court at a later date.
