Judge Finds Probable Cause to Hold Trump Team in Contempt

A federal judge has found probable cause to hold the Trump administration in criminal contempt for deporting over 200 people to El Salvador despite a court order blocking the flights.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg had ordered the flights halted under the Alien Enemies Act but said the administration ignored his directive. The judge warned that unless those deported are returned to U.S. custody to challenge their removals, the case could proceed to prosecution—either by the DOJ or an appointed attorney.

The administration claims it didn’t defy the order, arguing the planes had already departed before the ruling was issued.
