Upstate Medical University hospitals in Syracuse are gradually returning to normal after a network outage disrupted operations Tuesday. The outage canceled outpatient appointments, suspended visitation, and briefly halted emergency department admissions.
The disruption affected both Upstate University Hospital and Upstate Community Hospital. Ambulances were temporarily diverted, though trauma cases were still accepted. Emergency services resumed by late afternoon.
Upstate, the region’s largest employer, said updates will follow as systems fully recover. All ambulatory locations were also impacted by the outage.
