A routine traffic stop in Seneca Falls turned into a significant criminal investigation when officers found serious violations during a vehicle check. The incident unfolded on April 8 at approximately 5:30 PM.
The suspect, 38-year-old Tasha N. Stocum of Corning was taken into custody after authorities determined she was operating her vehicle with a suspended registration and a suspended driver’s license.
Officers initiated the stop after learning the vehicle’s registration was suspended. During the interaction, it became clear that the driver’s license was also not valid for operation. Law enforcement then discovered the controlled substance Oxycodone in the suspect’s possession—a substance not prescribed to her.
Stocum now faces several charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
She was processed and released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date.
