Tenney praises ICE arrests of 133 illegal immigrants in upstate New York

U.S. Representative Claudia Tenney is applauding a recent immigration enforcement operation that led to the arrest of 133 illegal immigrants across Western, Central, and Northern New York.

The sweep was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in coordination with federal law enforcement agencies. Tenney, a Republican representing New York’s 24th Congressional District, said the operation underscores the renewed authority of immigration officers under the current administration.

“President Trump and Border Czar Homan are prioritizing getting the worst of the worst out of our country,” said Tenney. “That includes some of the illegal immigrants apprehended in the recent ICE operation in Upstate New York.”

Tenney criticized previous immigration enforcement under the Biden administration, claiming it limited federal agencies’ ability to detain and deport individuals with serious criminal histories.

“Under the Biden administration, CBP and ICE were unable to carry out their mission as Sanctuary City Governors and Mayors illegally allowed dangerous criminals to roam free throughout our towns and cities,” she said. “Now, under President Trump’s America First Agenda, these law enforcement officers are able to perform their critical national security mission.”

The arrests included individuals convicted of serious violent and drug-related offenses. Among those apprehended were:

  • A 49-year-old from Trinidad and Tobago convicted of murder.
  • A 66-year-old from the Dominican Republic convicted of sexual conduct with a child.
  • A 32-year-old from El Salvador convicted of murder and gang assault.
  • A 70-year-old from the Dominican Republic convicted of manslaughter and drug trafficking.
  • A 50-year-old from China convicted of assault.
  • A 42-year-old from Mexico convicted of methamphetamine trafficking.
  • A 24-year-old from Ecuador with multiple DWI convictions.
  • A 43-year-old H-2A visa holder from South Africa charged with distribution and possession of child pornography.

Tenney thanked ICE and other federal officers for what she described as a vital contribution to public safety. “Thank you to the courageous law enforcement officers for your dedication to public safety,” she said. “And thank you to President Trump for upholding your commitment to getting these illegal immigrants out of our country.”
