  • Staff Report

A Geneva man was taken into custody this week on serious felony charges after deputies executed a bench warrant at a city apartment.

Deputies arrested 34-year-old Joel Hernandez-Acevedo on April 2 at 11:01 a.m. at 43 Genesee Street, where he was located during a warrant attempt. According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Hernandez-Acevedo was wanted on a bench warrant issued by Judge Doran in January for failing to appear in court.

The warrant stems from charges of burglary in the first degree and assault with a weapon. Deputies transported Hernandez-Acevedo to the Ontario County Jail, where he will remain in custody until he appears before the county court.

Deputy Outhouse led the investigation, with assistance from Deputies Bassett and Boadway.
