Ulysses eyes first public park with land donation

The Town of Ulysses is moving forward with plans for its first public park after receiving a 15-acre land donation offer from Marvin and Allison Pritts, according to town officials. A prior attempt in 2023 to purchase land for a park was rejected by voters.

The proposed site, located near Trumansburg schools, would initially support walking and recreational activities, with future upgrades guided by community input and funding. The town board approved a resolution for environmental review and aims to complete it by April.

Public response to the new plan has been largely favorable, with dozens of residents submitting supportive comments. Town leaders say the donation offers a rare opportunity to create an accessible green space without land acquisition costs.
