A 14-year-old has been arrested after police say threatening voicemails were left for the Penn Yan Central School District early Tuesday morning.
Penn Yan Police charged the juvenile, who lives in Penn Yan, with two counts of making a terroristic threat, a class D felony. The teen allegedly admitted to placing the calls after officers traced the voicemails back to a student phone number.
Authorities say the school district contacted police around 6:25 a.m. after receiving two alarming messages. Officers quickly launched an investigation and tracked the number responsible. After identifying the student, police interviewed the teen, who confessed to making the threats.
The juvenile will appear in court to answer the charges at a later date.
