Police identify woman killed in Auburn crash

Police have identified the woman killed in a January vehicle-pedestrian crash and announced upgraded charges against the driver following toxicology results.

Cynthia Stockwell, 67, died after being struck by a car on January 10 around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of North and Lansing Streets. She was transported to Auburn Community Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.


The driver, 31-year-old Christopher Dewiit, was initially charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, and multiple traffic violations. Following a toxicology report, police have now charged Dewiit with aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony.
