Public hearing set for Canandaigua housing plan

A proposal to rezone 27 acres for new housing in Canandaigua will be the focus of a public hearing tonight. Canandaigua Homes LLC plans to build 79 three- and four-bedroom houses priced around $300,000 in the Stewart Place area.

The developer is seeking a planned unit development designation to allow design flexibility, including limited sidewalks and front-facing garages. While the proposal aligns with city goals, sidewalk placement remains a sticking point, officials said.

The homes aim to address a local shortage of workforce housing. Input from the hearing, along with feedback from planning boards and staff, will guide City Council’s next steps. A final decision could begin taking shape in April.
