The City of Geneva is now accepting project proposals from local developers as it prepares applications for the 2025 Restore NY initiative and other state and federal redevelopment programs.
City officials announced a formal call for shovel-ready projects that align with key redevelopment goals, including boosting commercial investment, improving local housing, and advancing Geneva’s Comprehensive Plan. Projects located in Empire Zones and Brownfield Opportunity Areas, or those leveraging other public funding and private investment, will be given priority.
The Restore NY program, administered by Empire State Development, is designed to revitalize economically distressed communities through targeted infrastructure and real estate investments. Geneva’s Department of Planning & Economic Development is coordinating the effort to compile a slate of eligible projects for submission.
Interested developers must demonstrate full site control and have experience with large-scale redevelopment. Applications must meet Restore NY’s criteria, which include a focus on blighted or vacant properties that can significantly impact the community if restored or redeveloped.
To apply, developers must submit a one-page Project Idea Form and a seven-page Property Data Sheet by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 18. Submissions should be emailed to David West, Geneva’s Director of Planning & Economic Development, at [email protected].
For reference, developers can consult the previous Restore NY guidelines online, as the 2025 version has not yet been released.
Geneva officials encourage interested property owners and organizations to reach out for assistance in shaping project ideas and navigating the application process.
