The Southern Cayuga Central School District has introduced the official logo for its new mascot, the Falcons, following a community vote, according to district officials.
The red-themed logo will be gradually rolled out in the coming months, with full implementation set for July 1. A committee of students, staff, and community members collaborated with a graphic artist to design the imagery.
The district retired its previous “Chiefs” mascot after the state banned Native American names and imagery in schools, with noncompliant districts facing funding penalties after June 2025.
