The Ontario County Democratic Committee has donated over 120 pounds of bread and other perishables to the Naples Open Cupboard, a volunteer-run organization that supports individuals and families facing food insecurity. The donation was delivered on March 19.
The Naples Open Cupboard serves an average of 200 to 250 unique visitors each month, providing essential food assistance to those struggling to make ends meet. The organization works to eliminate hunger while improving community health and well-being by increasing access to nutritious food and offering educational resources.
John Hurley, chair of the OCDC, emphasized the importance of community support amid rising costs and government cuts. “Rising prices, along with cuts to government programs, mean that more people are vulnerable, and we can’t rely on the current administration to care about them. Democrats care. Members of the OCDC community donated over 120 pounds of bread, bagels, crackers, and other products to support the Naples Open Cupboard. It is our honor to help those in need,” Hurley said.
The OCDC works to educate the public about democracy and supports Democratic candidates for public office. The organization advocates for policies such as affordable healthcare, environmental protections, and government transparency.
