The Victor Town Board met Monday, approving several initiatives, including a new organic food scrap recycling program and funding allocations for future infrastructure projects.
The board voted to enter into an agreement with Natural Upcycling, a company that collects and processes food waste for renewable energy and composting. The new program replaces the town’s current food scrap recycling service, which had raised its prices. The updated service will use larger collection bins and offer weekly pickups.
“This will provide a more efficient option for residents while also supporting sustainability efforts,” said Casey Page, who introduced the plan.
In addition to waste management, the board discussed financial planning for upcoming capital projects. Director of Finance Rich O’Donnell reported a strong surplus of up to $2.4 million for 2024, attributing it to higher-than-expected sales tax revenue and lower-than-budgeted expenses. The board approved a resolution to transfer $2.2 million from the unassigned fund balance to capital reserves, ensuring funding for future infrastructure needs, including a highway and parks building.
The board also approved the appointment of two new full-time recreation leaders and awarded a bid for the Cobblestone Creek development project. Other resolutions included purchasing a new Caterpillar vehicle under a three-year program and accepting a donation for landscaping at Harlan Fisher Park.
The next town board meeting will continue discussions on infrastructure planning and budget allocations.
