Deputies responded to a reported assault early Tuesday morning at Campus Gate, located at 4350 County Road 50. The investigation determined that a domestic dispute had turned violent, leaving a female victim with minor injuries.
Carlos E. Diazcanales, 19, of Hopewell, was identified as the suspect. Authorities say he assaulted the woman and impeded her breathing during the altercation. A young child was present at the scene but was not harmed.
Deputies located Diazcanales shortly after the incident at a nearby gas station, where he was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with assault in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal obstruction of breathing.
Diazcanales is currently being held at Ontario County Jail as he awaits arraignment.
