Jefferson Park community building to get major upgrades thanks to donation

The City of Canandaigua is moving forward with long-anticipated renovations to the Jefferson Memorial Park Community Building, aiming to transform the space into a year-round hub for residents.

Construction began this month, thanks in large part to a generous donation from ESL Federal Credit Union. The city’s Department of Public Works Parks Bureau is leading the renovation effort, with plans to have the updated interior ready by Labor Day.

The revamped facility will include a kitchenette, audio-visual equipment, and ADA-compliant restrooms. Officials say the goal is to create a functional, welcoming space for community events, meetings, and celebrations in every season.

While the building is under construction, it will not be available for rentals. However, residents will be able to reserve the upgraded space later this year by contacting the DPW at 205 Saltonstall Street or by calling 396-5060.

The project does not affect other park amenities. The playground, skatepark, and ball fields will remain open throughout the renovation.
