A police officer was injured and public property damaged during a medical emergency call in the Town of Bath last month, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Ava M. Sitzer of West Sixth Street in Corning on March 19 after an investigation into the February incident. Authorities allege that while receiving emergency medical treatment, Sitzer injured a police officer and caused property damage.

Following the incident, Sitzer was transported for emergency care. Officials later secured a warrant for her arrest. The injured officer was treated and released.

Sitzer faces charges of assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. She was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and released on $1,000 bail.

Sheriff Jim Allard credited the Bath Village Police Department for assisting with the investigation and arrest.
