The Phelps Community Historical Society is inviting residents to journey deep into the past at its annual meeting next month.

The event will be held April 12 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Howe House on Main Street. This year’s program, titled “Before Phelps Was Young,” will feature a special presentation by Dr. Ron Grube. Attendees can expect a look into the region’s distant past, well before the arrival of early settler John Decker Robinson.

Organizers promise a compelling glimpse into the area’s lesser-known history, shedding light on life in the region long before it became the community known today as Phelps. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The Howe House, located at 66 Main Street, serves as the society’s headquarters and museum. The annual meeting is one of the society’s key events, drawing history enthusiasts from across Ontario County and beyond.
