Geneva man arrested in Waterloo for impaired driving, suspended license

A Geneva man was arrested in Waterloo on Friday night after police say he was found blocking traffic and driving while impaired by both drugs and alcohol.

Armeal J. Whitfield, 43, was taken into custody on March 21 at approximately 9:18 p.m., according to a report from the Waterloo Police Department. Authorities said the arrest followed a traffic stop after Whitfield was seen stationary in the roadway, obstructing traffic, and later failing to stay in his designated lane.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Whitfield was driving with a suspended license. He was also found to be impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol at the time of the stop, police said.

Whitfield was issued multiple uniform traffic tickets, including for driving while ability impaired (DWAI) by drugs and alcohol, DWAI by alcohol alone, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree. Additional charges include parking on a public highway, failure to use his designated lane, and having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Waterloo Court at a later date.
