New York State is investing $10.8 million in affordable housing developments in Tompkins County, with $7.1 million allocated to Ithaca’s Meadow on Seneca and $3.7 million for the Freese Road Apartments in Dryden. The funding is part of a $270 million statewide initiative.
Meadow on Seneca will include 70 units, half of which will support individuals facing homelessness, mental illness, or domestic violence. The Freese Road Apartments will feature 53 rental units and six single-family homes, both set to break ground in 2025.
This investment supports Gov. Kathy Hochul’s $25 billion housing plan. The federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, which funds such projects, aims to expand nationwide to address the housing crisis.
