Derek Hagen, a former Dansville teacher, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release for producing and possessing child pornography. Hagen pleaded guilty nearly three years ago.
Between 2018 and 2021, Hagen filmed and photographed himself abusing a victim and took explicit images of children in his care at the Brockport Childhood Development Center. Prosecutors said he uploaded the material online.
In court, Hagen apologized to his victims and detailed his rehabilitation efforts. U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Wolford called him “a parent’s worst nightmare” but acknowledged his attempts at reform.
