An Auburn man is facing a felony drug charge following a raid on his home by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.
Michael E. Stanton Sr., 51, was arrested March 20 after investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at his residence on Chapman Avenue. The search stemmed from an ongoing investigation into illegal narcotics possession and distribution in Cayuga County.
Authorities said they recovered a quantity of cocaine, U.S. currency, a digital scale, and other drug-related paraphernalia consistent with narcotics sales during the evening raid. As a result, Stanton was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B felony.
Stanton has two prior felony convictions. The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office requested that he be remanded to jail. However, under recent state bail reform policies, Stanton was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Cayuga County Court at a later date.
The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force includes members from the New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, and Auburn Police Department. The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
Investigators are urging anyone with additional information to contact the task force at 315-282-7540.
