Skaneateles hockey coach Mitch Major ended his career on a high note, leading the Lakers to a historic third straight state championship with a 3-0 shutout of Ogdensburg at LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo on Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers struck early, scoring on a two-man advantage just four minutes into the game when Luke Mizro buried a high shot off a Luke Bobbett pass. Goalie Danny Angelina was outstanding, stopping all 13 shots he faced in the first period and anchoring a defense that stifled the Blue Devils.

Skaneateles controlled the second period, allowing only three shots while extending the lead. Bobbett’s rush set up Kaden Rutledge, who tapped in a rebound to make it 2-0. Addison Taggart sealed the win with a third-period goal, and the Lakers’ defense held firm, limiting Ogdensburg to just six shots in the final frame.

The Lakers finished the season on a 21-game win streak after opening the season with a 2-2 record.
