Cornell University celebrated the launch of its first Level 3 electric vehicle fast-charging station on March 11, marking a major step toward campus sustainability. Spearheaded by the Abruña Energy Initiative (AEI), the station will initially serve Cornell Fleet Services, with plans to expand access in the future.
Interim President Michael Kotlikoff, the first to use the charger, praised its efficiency, noting it boosted his EV battery from 40% to 80% in 15 minutes. The station will also support research on EV performance and integrate with upcoming green hydrogen projects.
AEI founder Héctor Abruña hailed the project as a transformational step toward clean transportation, made possible by collaboration across campus departments.
