The Buffalo Sabres staged a thrilling comeback to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights, 4-3, in a shootout at KeyBank Center on Saturday afternoon. Captain Rasmus Dahlin forced overtime with a booming slap shot from the blue line with just 14 seconds remaining in regulation.
Buffalo (26-33-6) had to rally after falling behind 2-0, with Ryan McLeod quickly responding to a second-period goal just seven seconds later. Jason Zucker then capitalized on a Vegas turnover, firing in a power-play goal to even the score in the third.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 16 saves, while Bowen Byram notched two assists. Jack Quinn and Alex Tuch delivered clutch goals in the shootout to seal the victory.
Forward Jiri Kulich left the game in the second period following a hit from Brett Howden and did not return.
The Sabres have won two of their last three after enduring a tough six-game skid.
Buffalo begins a four-game road trip on Monday in Boston, with puck drop set for 7 p.m.
